I conducted my doctoral research at PSA-Ciemat (Spain), with short stays in the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Humbold-Universität zu Berlin (Germany), and received my Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2008 (with honors, extraordinary award). I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Ciemat until 2011, when I moved to my current position in the ICP-CSIC. I was a postdoctoral visiting scholar in the LBNL (CA,USA), IRCELYON (France), HKUST (Hong Kong-China) and LCS-ENSICAEN (France). I have been Spanish delegate in Eurodoc and I am member of the Spanish Catalysis and Chemical Engineering Societies.

I have experience in industrial emissions and air pollution control by catalysis, photocatalysis and adsorption. I have approached these vertical research lines from both chemistry and engineering perspectives in the frame of international academic collaborations and market-oriented projects with technological companies. The horizontal lines supporting my research are the synthesis of immobilized photocatalysts; conformation of solid materials by extrusion; characterization of solids; gas-phase activity tests at laboratory and pilot plant scale, and design and testing of new reactors. Recently I focus on the application of the operando spectroscopy methodology to the rational development of functional materials, such as wall-flow monoliths for diesel engines and concentrating solar power receivers and adsorbent/photocatalytic hybrids.
