Sergio Rojas was born in Madrid in 1970. He obtained a Degree in Chemistry (Electrochemistry) from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1993 and his PhD in Chemistry in 1999. After a couple of postdoctoral contracts at ICP and Universidad de Castilla la Mancha, he gained a postdoctoral fellowship at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden for the development of electrocatalysts for direct methanol fuel cells. During this period he was familiarized with the synthesis of nanosized metal particles from microemulsion. In 2003 he returned to the Grupo de Estructura y Actividad at ICP-CSIC in Madrid first with an I3P contract and since 2005 with a Ramón y Cajal contract. Since 2007 he is staff scientist at the ICP-CSIC.
He is co-author to some 40 SCI papers, two chapters of books, delivering several invited presentations at both national and international congresses. Also he has been supervisor to one PhD thesis and is currently supervising 4 PhD students.

Electrocatalysis. Development and study of catalysts for applications in:
GTL Process. Catalysts for clean fuel production from syngas (obtained from coal, natural gas or biomass) by means of the Fischer Tropsch process. Understanding the actual nature of the catalyst and controlling the selectivity towards the desired fraction.
