CSIC researchers have synthesized1,2-diacetin at up to 98% yield, by immobilized or free lipase-catalyzed hydrolysis of triacetin at moderate pH (e.g. 5,5) and temperature (e.g. 22 ºC), with/without organic solvents. This diacetin is a regio and enantio-selective precursor of high added value compounds: lipid compounds “a la carte”, glycolic acid or phospho-glyceraldehyde. Chemicals manufacturers interested in applying the process under a patent license are sought for an offer for patent licensing

High redox potential lacases

A Spanish Institute has developed a process to produce fungal laccases with high-redox potential by directed evolution and expression in yeast. A mutant laccase thus produced shows high activity (6-fold higher than that of similar laccases) and stability to the presence of organic solvents, temperature (T50=73ºC) and pH (pH=3-9) and is secreted at 8 mg/ml of broth.
Exploitation of this OB-1 laccase and other obtainable with this procedure is offered under a patent licence.

Procedimiento de preparación de un aluminosilicato con estructura tipo ferrierita a partir de geles que contienen tetrametilamonio y bencil-metilpirrolidinio, y sus aplicaciones

La presente invención consiste en un nuevo procedimiento para la síntesis hidrotermal de la zeolita ferrierita, utilizando como agentes direccionales de estructura tetrametilamonio y bencil-metilpirrolidinio, que no precisa de un proceso posterior para obtener la forma ácida del material. Este hecho es de gran relevancia, ya que evita tratamientos posteriores de calcinación e intercambios sucesivos que degradan la estructura de la zeolita. La ferrierita sintética obtenida mediante el proceso de la invención encuentra aplicaciones en procesos catalíticos de transformación de hidrocarburos como craqueo, isomerización, alquilación y polimerización. En particular, puede ser usada en la isomerización de buteno a isobuteno. Para ser utilizada en procesos catalíticos la zeolita ferrierita se debe calentar en una atmósfera oxidante en condiciones tales que se produzca la eliminación de la materia orgánica ocluida en su interior.

Automatic reactor for catalytic microactivity studies.


The invention relates to a reaction device which is used to study the behaviour of a catalyst in the presence of reactants. The inventive device comprises: various different mass flow regulators, which are used to supply a known controlled stream of gases, a pump which supplies the system with liquid reactants from a container; a hot box, wherein have been placed a supply current evaporator  and preheater; a valve which can be used to select the process path; a reactor into which the catalyst is introduced inside a furnace ; a system which can be used to separate the liquid and gaseous products by means of cold condensation under pressure and which controls the pressure in the line of output gases; and a system for controlling the level in the decantation operation, said system being automated and computerised.

Gas-Liquid Separator comprising a capacitive level sensor


The invention relates to a gas/liquid separator comprising a capacitive level sensor, which is particularly suitable for systems that employ reduced volumes of fluids at high pressures. The inventive separator consists of a metal part comprising a borehole which is closed at the lower end thereof, such as to form a container. The aforementioned container comprises at least one gas inlet, one liquid outlet and one gas outlet. According to the invention, a cooling system, in the form of a Peltier cell that is in contact with the walls of the metal part. Generates the condensation of the liquid which is collected at the bottom of the container until the introduction of a probe which is electrically isolated from the system and which forms an electric condenser with the walls of the part. The capacity of the condenser varies according to the level of liquid in the container. In addition, a frequency signal is generated by means of an oscillator output signal that is proportional to the response from the sensor and, consequently, the height of the liquid in the container.
